The neck rule

A common rule of thumb: symptoms above the neck only (a runny nose) means light exercise is usually fine. Below the neck (fever, chest, aches, stomach) means rest. When in doubt, rest and ask a doctor.

Questions people ask

Is it okay to work out when sore?

Mild soreness is fine; light movement even helps. If it hurts to move normally, rest that muscle group or take the day off.
